Thread Lift:
The idea of using some form of string or thread to lift and support the skin of the face is not new.
As long as facelifts have been performed surgeons have attempted to create a successful “stringlift’. In the 1970s
gold threads were used to create a skin redraping on the face.
In the late 1990s a Russian physician Dr. Marlen Sulamanedze created the Aptos threads (anti-ptosis
threads). These were subsequently called the Featherlift threads. Considered a fairly good way of creating subtle tissue lift for the mildly sagging face the
Featherlift should be credited with reopening the role for non-surgical facelifting.
The latest entrant in the arena of “minimally invasive” facelifting is the Thread
Lift, the Contour Threads have been years in development. Having been recently FDA approved these threads answer many
of the problems of earlier threads and offer the best results available to date.
As the cosmetic enhancement arena continues to evolve more and more emphasis is being placed on creative
and effective techniques that minimize patient downtime while maximizing natural results.
